Podium of Victor Jimenez at Knockhill
The seventh round of the season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain has resulted in a new podium for Víctor Manuel Jiménez. The Spanish rider has added today at the Scottish Knockhill circuit a really valuable points in the fight for the top three in the overall championship, in which he is in the third place again after overtaking Paul Rees by just one point.
The rain, almost always present in this Scottish circuit conditioned the day on Saturday, in which Victor was able to show his talent in water leading most of the time the classification, signing the second place in both races just two tithes away from Michael Meadows, who snatched the pole in the last moments.
In the morning race he scored his tenth podium of the season, with the one he could draw with Rees in general. In the second race, a problem with the gear of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup made him start from the pit-lane. With nothing to lose the Spanish driver began his own crusade to try to hunt down the drivers in front, reaching the sixth place after overtaking Rees, gaining the point that will put him back in third place overall.
“I feel happy because it was a weekend in which I have been very competitive, in water I felt comfortable with a fast pace so I’ve toyed with the pole, but Meadows in the last stint could beat me after leading all the race“- says Victor.
“I really enjoyed this circuit, it has been two good days though the gear problems in the second set. It was a shame because after seeing the pace of the training I could see myself fighting for the top two spots, but in general I’m happy that we have recovered the third place of the general, which was my main goal. “- Sentence.
The eighth round of the season will take place in two weeks at the Rockingham circuit.
